Press Release update:
While the recon report is still being written, the lead investigator, Off. Kevin LaRocco provided me the following verbal update:
On Friday June 2, 2017 at approximately 12:30 a vehicle travelling towards Provincetown slowed and or stopped to allow a vehicle travelling towards Eastham make a left hand turn onto Spring Brook Road. Neither of these vehicles were involved in the accident. A series of vehicles (3) and the cement mixer travelling on Route 6 towards Provincetown were involved a chain reaction crash. The primary event was the cement mixer striking the Jeep, being operated by 17 year old operator. The operator of the cement mixer took evasive action and struck the back right hand portion of the jeep before rolling over on its side. Data downloaded from the cement mixer showed that it was travelling under the posted 45 speed limit (max speed 42).
Jeff Perry the operator of the cement mixer has been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries.
All other operators were evaluated at the scene and not transported to any hospital.
Based on the investigation no criminal charges will be filed. Jeff Perry will receive a civil citation for failure to use care in stopping on a state highway and failure to wear a seatbelt.
