On Monday, December 11, 2017 at approximately 1641 hours, Wellfleet Police officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Route Six near the Outer Cape Health Clinic. Upon arrival, officers observed three vehicles, a 2011 Saab operated by Brian Briody of S. Wellfleet, a 2012 Honda operated by Richelle Nelson of N. Lauderdale, FL and a 2004 Honda operated by Mary Beth Caragian of Hudson, MA, involved in the accident. The Wellfleet and Truro Fire departments, along with Lower Cape Ambulance Association, arrived on location and began treating victims. All victims were transported to Cape Cod Hospital. Route Six remained closed, in both directions, between School St. and Briar Lane for approximately three hours while traffic was detoured around the accident scene.
The accident continues to be under investigation by the Wellfleet Police Department and members of the Cape Cod Regional Accident Reconstruction team. The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department, the Provincetown Police Department and Mass Highway Department also assisted at the scene.
